The Aussie Alps

The Australian Alps are a unique and rugged mountain region in south-eastern Australia. Home to the country’s highest peaks, including Mount Kosciuszko, the Alps support a rich mosaic of alpine and subalpine ecosystems found nowhere else on the continent. Shaped by snow, fire, and extreme weather, these landscapes host many endemic and threatened plant and animal species.

I have a personal connection to these mountains, having spent countless days there during my PhD, collecting seeds, counting seedlings and hiking around them.
